Water Pump and more...

Hello Everyone,

I’ve turned to this forum for excellent advice over the years and now it’s one more trip to the well for me. I have a 2003 Ranger 3.0 FFV OHV with approximately 150k miles on it. It is leaking coolant from the water pump and I am good to go to replace that. My question to the Forum is this; what else should I replace while I am at it? I’m going to have the truck up in the air, and it will be a great opportunity to do some other preventative maintenance.

Much thanks to everyone in advance for your guidance!

Richard

Welcome to the forum

The water pump is bolted to the Front Cover also called timing cover, as it covers the timing chain
There are two coolant passages thru this cover to the engine, they can leak at the gasket between engine and cover

Google: ford ranger 3.0 timing cover gasket replacement

The fittings above the water pump can rust out, check them

Be sure and get a Ford water pump too.
It's a crapshoot with after-market stuff.
