Need to replace rear wheel bearing on '99 XLT Ranger

Do I need to open up the rear dif to do this?

Is there a write-up anywhere for this?

Yes you will need to open the diff to take the C-Clip off that side and pull the axle out. I would suggest replacing the seal too and it wouldnt be a bad idea to just do both sides now. Otherwise if your other side has a problem you get to do this all over again.

Here's a write-up that will help you a little. It's not for bearings, its for the seals, but the disassembly is all the same.

That's how to get up to the seals out, then just use a bearing remover or similar, pop the new ones in to the same depth, new seals and reverse the process.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I think I will take your advice and do the bearings and seals on both sides.
