Manual transmission replacement

Hello everyone. The manual transmission in my 1999 B3000 2wd recently died on me. I found a trans out of a 2002 ranger 2wd at a local wrecking yard. I am wondering if it will be a direct fit? Are all M50d-r1 transmissions the same across all years of 2wd?

if anyone could give me some insight before i go an pick it up. Thanks.

M5OD-R1 transmissions are Engine specific and 2WD or 4WD specific

In a 1999 3.0l 2WD you could use a 1991 thru 2008 M5OD-R1 from a 3.0l 2WD Ranger or Mazda B3000 2WD

So yes, you can use a 2002 3.0l 2WD M5OD-R1 in your 1999 3.0l 2WD

The only electrical plug in you need in 1999 is for Reverse Lights, Ford used the same plug type for many years but it did change, not sure when, so if you can get the plug with wires attached that would be good just in case, if not you can buy correct connector

2001 and up transmissions, manual or automatic, will have an extra sensor, you don't need it so just leave it unconnected
