I know this is a OLD thread but I am trying to wire a set of aftermarket lights in my 96 F350 just like they are in my 04 ranger.

In the ranger they can be turned on with just the running lights, the low beams and are turned off with the high beams. Anyone know how to wire it like that?

I dont see why you would want them to turn off with the high beams. You never use high beams in fog and high beams leave less light directly in front of the vehicle. Having the fog lights on with the highbeams fills in that gap. If you wire the fog light relay source wire into the running lights you will have 3 modes where the fogs will automatically come on with the headlight switch. A. Fog lights and running lights for fog, rain or low light but not dark. B. Headlights and foglights for normal night driving. C. Highbeam and fog for back roads.

You will need to run 2 relays. One with source from running lights (which will also keep them on with the low beams) then a second relay with a source wire from the highbeams but using the ground side of the foglights to unground the fogs when the highbeams are on.

I am confused as to when you said to unground the fogs.

How I would wire it to get fog lights with parking and low beam and turn fog lights off when high beams are on.

Will require two relays,
Relay #1 MUST be a 5 pin with a pin 87A
Relay #2 can be a 4 or 5 pin relay with or without pin #87A

Relay #1
Pin #30 fused power from battery
Pin #85 from highbeams
Pin #86 ground
Pin #87A to pin #30 on relay #2

Relay #2
Pin #30 to pin 87A on relay #1
Pin #85 to switch you install, get power to switch from parking lights
Pin #86 ground
Pin #87 to foglights

You can set it up as 2011 subercab described but to eliminate the switch take the ground from the fog lights (not the relay ground) and run that through a second relay. Then set the relay up in reverse so when the highbeams are on it will disconnect the ground to the foglights and turn them off. Relay one will still be sending 12+ but they will be ungrounded with relay 2 on. I'll draw a little sketch on how to do it when I get home. It's not hard to do.

The wire colors I used were just an example to help keep things separate for the drawing, not the color you have to use.
Also pay careful attention to pins 87 and 87A

Yes, 87A is "on" when there is no power switching it

Thanks again

I realize that, but is there anyway to change the wiring so the running lights are the turn signals instead of the headlights?

what I basically wanted to do is use my turn signals as daytime running lights instead of the actual headlights. I have switchback led bulbs for my turn signals so they would be white unless I am turning. But I don't want to use my headlamps unledd I have the headlights on for nighttime driving.
