I rear ended someone yesterday...
I was on the way to Angier ( a small town), coming from Fuquay-Varina (a little bigger town) to see my friend. There was a green GMC truck in front of me, a black Nissan Pathfinder in front of him, and a White Expedition in front of him. The white expedition was turning left and his signal light did not work. The pathfinder hit the expedition. The green truck, as well as I, slammed on brakes, and we could'nt stop on time. The green truck hit the black SUV, and I hit the green truck. The pathfinder and the expedition had very minimal damage. However, that was'nt the case for me or the GMC truck. The GMC was a total loss, and I tore the front bumper ( With the fog lights on it) completley off. My airbags deployed, and the cop said I hit the green truck going at least 30 MPH. We all got tickets... however, with me being young, my insurance will probably go up so high that I can't drive. My Ranger had a 5$5,000 damage estimate. I just hope and pray that I can still drive...I love my truck to much! By the way, No one was hurt. I was the only one with the airbag deployed. I hope to get my truck fixed soon, and hit the streets again, cruzin'!!

You can:
1. waste a few hours of your life to take a chance you might have to Pay $15 more or pay nothing and your insurance not go up anymore (beside claiming the accident it will go up if you get the ticket)
2. pay the ticket save yourself some time by not going to court garenteeing your insurance will jack up even more, and you now carry at least one point on your license.
I don't know about you but I will always risk $15 for court cost to save me thousands worth of higher insurance for the next 3 years.

You should check to see if your state has shared liability. Meaning that you aren't the only one put at fault. Obviously you were all following a lil too close. But by the time you get to be the 3rd car back when ppl are slaming on their brakes even if you got enough space itz damn near impossible to stop. Go and fight!

I'd see if you can get into a AAA driver saftey class or something. I did that when I got my speeding ticket and the judge dropped the fine and reduced the charge to "improper equipment" which carries no insurance points. I still had to pay the $100 court cost or whatever it was, but my insurance is the same as it was before the ticket since I got no points.

Too many cocky people driving around these days... Sucks for you, though, Todd. Can't imagine going back to school w/out the truck will be any fun...but you still have the rest of your junior year and all of your senior year to show it off...
