So I called a guy that is parting out a 93 ford ranger 4x4 3.0, and he said you have to take the entire rear end out to just get the back plate. That isn't true is it???

Also, would that even fit a 94 4.0 xlt 4x4?

You just have to pull the axle shaft to get the backing plate off, I will have a set in a few weeks when I do my disc swap but wont do you any good now.

Yeah, I'm looking into the conversion right now, but I'm sort of confused on what parts exactly are needed for it. I keep reading the threads, but it seems like the people in the conversion threads don't really know exactly either.
