Got LED Turn Signals, Got Problems. HELP

I got these LED 3157 bulbs (it says 3157 but who knows with all this chinese crap) And I also got a new Electronic Flasher. Everything seemed to be working fine but I noticed that now when i have my headlights switched on, the sidemarker light does not light nor blink ( I have the turn signal mod) only the turn signal blinks. And worst of all, on my dash, the turn signal indicators are lit solid at all times. Don't know what's going on but help =[

All I can say, is with experience from fiddling around with Shane and Trevor for over an hour at Shane's house, LED's tend to really mess up the electronics in terms of flashing and emergency blinkers and turn signlas.. I dont honestly remember if either of them found a way to fix it without jsut stepping up to much higher power LED's (SMT's and an internal capacitor in each to mimic a normal incandescant).

The turn signal mod, most of the time won't work w/Led's. Pull the LED's, and see if everything goes back to normal. Then try some higher power LED's Mike said.

I don't have this problem with my 03 or 04.

you had the led`s wired backwards
that is why your turn signal lights are constantly lit

white is-- ground

black is-- positive

but if I turn them around in the socket, they don't work at all

i wonder if because it only has this problem when my running lights or headlights are turned on, if it is a problem with the turn signal mod

could the LEDs you have be shorted internally or something. just a thought

the only leds that will work with the blinker mod are non polarised led bulbs.... cause with incondacents the power can go threw both sides of the bulb but most led bulbs are polarised... u need bipolar led bulbs if u want to keep the blinker mod

I had a feeling that's what I needed. Guess I'll just sell these and get non-polarized from autolumination.. it's either that or I disconnect the turn signal mod and don't have blinking side markers.

They may draw different/less current than a real (incandescent) 3157 so your flasher thinks a lamp's burned out and doesn't flash (or flashes too slow). You might try a variable load "heavy duty" flasher as are often sold for trailer towing where the added lights and higher current cause regular flasher to flash too fast.

i think the reason is because the normal turn signal lights are duel filament bulbs and the side marker is only a singal filament bulb if u take your signal mod out it should work ??? but i may be totally wrong too

I got an electronic flasher and it flashes just fine but on the dash for some reason it shows the blinker lights on...

can anyone confirm that i need non-polar led's? and that they will work with the blinker mod?

Didn’t read all the post so shoot me 1
I did the turn signal mod and it worked great with the std Incandescent Bulbs but I decided to use LED and WAM BAM it didn’t work, why you ask, because LEDs are setup to work on a positive/negative wiring one way only and can not handle the reversing of the pos/neg wires as is done in the Blinker Mod.

Replace the LEDs with the original or high output lamps and you will have it again.

yeah I put the LED's i got for the turn signals in the rear reverse lamps. Gonna try non-polarized LED's cause i've heard they will work

Ok on the non-polarized LED’s if they are available; where do you get them ?

autolumination sells them, on the 3157 section they say non-polarized

i just wanted to confirm that the turn signal mod DOES NOT work with LED lights. I even bought the "non polar" LED's and it still doesn't work. I'm just gonna get rid of the turn signal mod because having LED's is a lot more important to me than having my stupid side marker blink haha

You should not need non-polar LEDs I think. I did an LED mod for a guys motorcycle once, and the low power draw of the LEDs screwed up his timing (blinked fast). Turns out that the timing relay needs the correct resistance bulb to operate properly. I fixed this by running to Radio Shack and buying some 10 Watt 2ohm (I think they were 2 ohm, can't remember) resistors. Hooked those up in parallel with LEDs and everything was normal again. You could try this same thing. Measure the resistance of the original bulbs and get a matching resistor with a higher wattage rating than the original bulb.

When I did the mod it worked perfectly with Incandescent Bulbs but when I installed the LED Bulbs it would not work.

I did not try “Non=Polarized” LED Bulb, mainly because I did not think something like that existed/

Also, since the mod has power flowing one want and then the other, the LED Bulb would require a diode/resistor matrix to control the flow and route the pwr to make it work.

All I want to do to this mod now is get some high out put lamps to replace the OEM Lamps.
