Door and ignition key question

Door and ignition key question
I recently purchased a 2002 Ranger XLT that came with one "smart key" that works with the ignition and one remote fob that works with the door locks. The remote works fine, but the ignition key does not work with the door locks. I recall that on Ford's I owned in the past, the ignition key and the door key where separate and different. Is that the case with the Range? If so, is the door key a "smart key" or just a plain key?

Only a register PATS Key(smart key) can start the engine, the PATS software, inside the computer, has a list of 3 or 4 PATS keys that came with the New Ranger, only those are registered to start engine.
You can add more PATS keys but there is a method to do that
Door locks should be opened by same key that works in the ignition, reads like someone changed the ignition cylinder and key
Never had any car/truck that used different keys for doors and ignition, there were Valet Keys, that wouldn't work in glove box or locked center consoles
You can remove the door lock cylinders and take them to a locksmith, he can often "re-key" them to match the key(s) you have for ignition

Yes, that was a long long time ago, lol
Now-a-days keys are rarely used in the doors, because of key fobs, and by 2015 most cars/trucks don't even have ignition keys, just a Start/Stop button.
So only electronic digital "keys" now
And just FYI cars came with door locks first but just a start button or a floor switch years and years ago, an ignition key was first used in 1949 Chrysler
And yes different key for doors/trunk and ignition
Then there was electric or cable trunk release, so moot point and same key was used for door, trunk and ignition
