dome light stays on constantly..anyone know how to fix this?????????

Well I left work tonight and went to waffle house to eat..as i sat there i looked outside at the truck and noticed the dome light was still on...so i went outside to the truck and checked the switch inside to make sure i didnt hit it by mistake..it was of...the doors were shut completely....dome light still stayed on....when I left waffle house....i got in the truck..shut the door...light stayed on...started the truck....light went off while engine was turning over then once engine started the dome light came back on....put truck into gear and light finally went off after i reached approx. 10 mph....got home and got out of the truck and shut the door and dome light once again stayed on....ended up having to pull fuse to turn the dome light off...anyone else experience this problem????let me know what possibly could be the ptoblem...thanks

there's a lil push knobby button that is pressed when your door is shut. You use "dialectric grease" inside it to make sure the connections work well. Find it(its not on the door but the door hits it) and remove and clean it, then if it isnt working properly, hit up the dialectric grease.

By the way, I'm pretty sure I'm right on what to do, but I haven't done it myself, so for all i know there are trained gnomes that live inside your door that turn the light on and off, and you shut the door too hard and knocked them out.

The switch is inside the door latch mechanism.Spray the inside of the latch with WD-40 and work the latch a few times.

Terry,

Search on "door ajar".

Also google "Ford door ajar".

I use a phillips screwdriver to simulate the door latch post and "open and close" the door latch repeatedly after spraying the door latch assembly liberally with Deep Creep, WD40 (good for cleaning out the gunk, but it's not a good lubricant), Teflon gun lube, etc.

Repeat in a year or two as necessary. Do both doors.

the WD-40 didnt work for me.. maybe i did it wrong lol...

what i did was slightly take out one of the 2-3 screws that hold the fixture in.. one makes the thing turn off all together, another just makes it so the lights dont come on when your doors are open..

wd-40 worked great when mine did this in the spring. i squirted a sh*t load into the door latch. then open and close the doors several times and you should be all set

I was just looking at this forum and the WD-40 didn’t work for me either... all though it did make it open and close a lot nicer, that wasn’t the fix for me.

With that said I figured out my problem! I was messing with the DIM light wheel on my dash and I realized that if you click the wheel all the way up, it turns on the dome lights and keeps them on no matter what, even with driving. So I switched it down and it stopped 🤷‍♂️

hopefully that fixed your problem?? Lmk!

Cold beer for you

If I could give you a cold beer.. CHECK THE SWITCH FIRST! Always start simple.
