I cut my wire harness out in my 97 ranger! On top of that I cut it too close to the harness to splice back together cleanly. I'm hoping someone will tell me that it's possible to de-pin the wire harness and completely redo the harness that way. But I'm not confident that's possible so I'm open to all suggestions! Thanks in advance.

But lots of different types/styles of both
There won't be a "1997" type

Best bet is to get another harness from a 1997 Ranger with your model engine and trans
