Command Start Issues.
Hey all, I'm looking for a little help with an electronic issue on my truck.
The basics are: I had an aftermarket remote starter system installed on my truck, for the first two years it worked perfect. Last summer it started acting up remote starter would not function, the problem went away after a month and it was working fine until recently.
What happens is I'll press the starter the lights will come on it cycle to the starter mode and then shuts off. It will work about 1 in every 10 tries.
I can put the key in the ignition start the vehicle press the remote and remove the key and the vehicle will stay running.
I'm thinking of two possibilities, first a lose wire on the starter connection, or possibly a bad battery on the truck.
Let me know what you think, this has me puzzled. BTW I replaced the battery in the remote and that did not help. Any help is appreciated.

It is the transponder bypass... Fords are very sensitive to the rf ring placement.. The reason it starts when you have the key in or near the ignition is because the car picks up that key and disables the anti theft
Pull the column shroud. Look at the aftermarket ring.. Make sure is it undamaged and wrapped close around the PATS ring...
If it still doesn't start find the box the key is hidden in. Hold it and remote start it and see if you can feel the relay click. If so take the key out and try to start the car with that key. If it doesn't start then the key lost programing..
To try to reprogram it turn 1 good key to ignition. remove
Turn a second good key in ignition
Turn deprogrammed key in ignition then start if that works then reinstall the key in the bypass..
If the key is not cut then you can do the same thing except with the key in the bypass hit remote start after you remove the second key.
If you don't feel the bypass click then make sure it is plugged in correctly / test if you have 12volts + ground when running.
