Check engine light - code P0401
Hello Ranger Fans,
I own a 95 Ranger Supercab 4x4 that is my pride and joy. I recently let a mechanic get the best of me with some repairs he made to correct a code
P0401. Well about $700 dollars later, the mechanic finds out the problem is the on-board computer and he replaces it for free. Take a look at the list below to see the path he took to get there.
Parts replaced
Egr Sensor
Intake gasket
Egr Valve Solenoid
Egr Valve
Other minor hoses
This mechanic had my truck for over 2 1/2 weeks. Has this happened to ANYONE out there? Am I wrong in thinking that I should be receiving money back from this business for unnecessary parts and labor?

Man.. that stinks. In all honesty though. I can see where a problem like that would eat a mechanics lunch so to speak.
When the computer tells you a certian code. You'd assume it's telling you the truth.
Chances are he did'nt make any money on the deal if he replaced your computer for free.
