Brake pad FAILURE!

I knew i should have done brakes when i had the wheels off on monday.
Driving to work today, the inside pad on the passenger side fell out of the knuckle (of which i literally just replaced last year) On lunch i went out and grabbed some pads, and me and a co-worker changed the drivers side and took my ruined caliper off (sitting on the work bench next to me at the moment) I'm gonna jimmy-rig this junk back together.
I think i'll just make a small plate or something to put on either side of the knuckle, its right where the pad sits in there, it must have been vibrating back and forth and wore down a lot. If i make two "U" style plates and weld them on front and back of the knuckle it should hold it.
I just really don't want to take the knuckle off my truck, i don't have that kind of time this weekend.

Yea, but all my crap breaks at once then its good for a long time.
I knew it needed brakes, I just neglected to do them so its more or less my fault.
this has also happened before, the whole reason i put knuckles in the truck last year.

If you had old style 4x4 like me, you would be SOL. cause my primary parts source is the Junkyard. So the best stuff doesn't always get put on in the first place.
I wasn't happy with the knuckles i got last year, but it was the best pair i could find at the time, now that this new junkyard has opened by me, and they have about 30 4x4 expos. I'm gonna be in good business.

The old style I-Beam 4x4 is why.
On the end of my I-Beam is a kunckle, This is a picture from when i did my Knuckles last year. (November, hasn't even been a full year, wtf!)

That large thing on the ground is the Knuckle. Its got my backing plate and my rotor and ball joints on it.
The inside pad rides in a slot in the knuckle and in a slot in the caliper. The only thing i can figure what happened (my old man confirmed this) is that the pad was sliding back and forth in the knuckle, wearing the slot even bigger. When i slammed on the brakes this morning to avoid hitting someone, i rattled the pad right out. If i had replaced the pads like i should have when i had the wheels off on Monday, i would have caught this and fixed it then.
I have my plates made up, i'm just gonna weld them on there and stop the pad from moving ever in the knuckle.

I got all that junk fixed last night.
Only to have a transfercase whine? Idfk. its not tire roar, but it has a high pitched whine thats really pronounced, between 15-45 mph. i'm gonna throw some seafoam Transtune into my tranny today (was going to anyways, having a hard first gear shift) maybe that'll fix 'er

Pretty sure its my Transmission. I dont know for sure. Whines like a 5 year old girl. Bumps and clunks when it shifts out of park (into reverse, drive, etc.) but no bumping during shifts while moving, only 1st gear has a hard bump, but its always been slight.
I put my truck into 4x4 and it still whined, put it into low range, still whines. just louder now since the low range whine is added.

2 years ago, I put some Transtune in it last year and that stopped everything, so i think it might be time for a filter and fluid flush again.

not at the moment. but my grandparents have 2 cars, and they only ever drive 1.
I've always been in the market to upgrade my truck, but this transmission thing might be the straw that broke the camels back. I don't have a TON of money to spare right now, and i'd have to let my truck go for a higher price than it can probably sell for.
I throw the for sale sign in it, but i'll still drive it this winter probably. won't try to hard.
