automatic on cruise control button?
2007 sport 4.0l supercab.
right now, once truck is running, you have to push the "on" button to activate cruise, then press set at a desired speed.
I would like to have cruise auto enabled when i start the truck, like most other vehicles do, my gf's caddy cts is on when you start, just set the speed and relax.
anyone know how to mod our button, I could then use the on off buttons for something else like ext. lights or something.
I'm guessing it's just a momentay switch with a small capacitor going to a relay or something similar.... anyone have a wireing diagram for this circut?

With an automatic, you may be able to pulse the ON function using the reverse light circuit. Every time the lever is moved from Park to Drive, it must pass through Reverse momentarily.
Some things to keep in mind:
-The cruise control command circuits use VREF, not battery voltage. That means that you cannot use the 12V reverse light pulse directly and you'd need a relay to bypass the button on the wheel and send the command to the cruise servo/module.
-Also, there is a 1000 ohm resistor needed in that circuit to drop the VREF voltage down to the correct value that the cruise servo/module recognizes as the "ON" command.
-Hopefully, the "reverse pulse" when shifting is long enough to satisfy the requirements of the speed control. It would be a good idea to try the ON function to see if it will actually switch on with a quick stab at the button.
So it looks like all you'd need is a relay, a 1K resistor and some wire. Of course, I haven't actually tried this but it seems plausible.
