anyone running LED taillight bulbs?

I was reading on www.stylinconcepts.com that a "load equilizer" may be needed for the Rangers that use the taillight as the turn signal as well. Anyone have any issues with this?

anyone have any idea what im talking about? lol

I tried em and my truck denied them hardcore....id hit the brakes and they would be fine, but then i tried the blinkers and nothing...then i tried the brakes again with the lights on and the bulbs only stayed the brightness of the marker lights...so i ditched em.

The current flow through LEDs is much lower than through the stock filament bulbs. The flasher unit cannot deal with it. I believe that the "load equalizers" are simply correctly sized resistors wired in parallel with the LEDs to increase current flow when the circuit is hot. Some LED taillight "bulb" assemblies may have them built in from the manufacturer.

I have leds in my brake lights, turn signals, and parking lights. The only problem i have is when i use my turn signal it blinks ultra fast; like if a bulb is bunt out.

from what I read on jamstrait.com, its cause you need load equalizers to even out the current. I was just curious. Thanks for the replies guys. I learned something. dont tell anyone.

I'd be okay with it blinking faster, I think it gets more attention...as long as its safe on the wiring and all

Those who have the LEDs in the brake lights, reverse lights, turn signals... Are you happy with the brightness? I am considering buying these because the colors look so much more vibrant, I am however concerned that the lights will not be bright enough. Can anyone comment on this?

You will be hard pressed to find a suitable LED reverse light good for anything but looks. They aren't going to provide enough light to see much with.

If one of you guys or a R-F vendor came up with a "conversion kit" I'd buy it.

From my experience, I have a 9-bulb white LED reverse light and it actually lit up the space behind the truck when I was backing up a LOT more than the standard bulb.

I have the same problem do you think load equilizers would fix this?

I was thinking of goin with these for my reverse lights, they have 30 LED's in each, 25 on the outer surface and 5 on the end.

I have the LED's for my reverse lights only. WAY brighter then stockers. I was going to do them all, but did a little reading about the turn signals not working due to not having extra stuff...........not really the technical guy here...LOL

Anyway, my LED reverse lights are super bright. I have something similar to these

While were on the topic of LED's and bright lights......not to hijack.....but what is everyone running for front corner lights??

I have the silver coated amber burning ones.....but they aren't very bright. I had clear ones in there, but it was a yellowish light. Any nice bright amber burning bulbs out there that aren't amber (maybe a clear lens?)

i had some in mine, the apc blubs from autozone, but i didn't like the amount of light they put out.

it was just behind the truck, you couldn't see the light from the side.
and it was just a round spot on the tail light cover, im going to stick with my normal bulbs, they work fine.

Resistors fix the fast flash w/ led's in blinkers. Motorcycle guys use them all the time when fitting led signals in place of incandescent units. The resistors work fine, but they do produce a little heat. I never considered it a problem because it would only be when the blinkers were on (not often). You can also use a relay to slow the blinking rate, which is the preferred method.

I am 99.999% positive that if you use the "EP27" electronic flasher to replace the stock flasher you will not need to use resistors to slow them down. I have been doing immense research on the subject and this is what I plan to do. I will then convert my truck 100% to LED. All turnsignals, All brake lights, All Reverse lights.

Don't need too, I have these...

The bright LEDs match my 6000K HID's by color perfectly.
