Anti Theft system question

I was reading thru some of the posts and saw the factory anti theft system works on some but not others...my '06 has the blinking theft light but if you open the door from the inside with the window down and the door locked it doesn't go off. I had an '05 Escape with the same system and it would go off if you opened the door from the inside when the door was locked. My dad's '95 ranger goes off, my gf's '98 explorer goes off, I had a '99 escort zx2 that went off. So is mine malfunctioning? I'd also like to know why they didn't continue the Smart Lock system, I liked demonstrating that feature to my buddies in my escape but I guess it didn't get put on the rangers in '06?

mine has no factory security system. at least, there is no audible alarm other than pushing the button on the fob. I have a viper system now.

I never got a fob when I got my truck..I'd have to get one from the dealer and have it programmed. As far as I know all Ford security systems had an audible alarm

if you roll your window down and lock the door then try to open it from the inside, it should go off..that's how I would know if my truck has been broke into..ford's systems aren't super sensitive like other factory systems but if you do that, it should sound the alarm..the other way is to hit your panic button on your fob, that will set it off too..I loved scaring the hell out of my buddies with that!

Only if your truck has a ford alarm system. The anti theft is the pats system, which requires a 'chipped' key to start the vehicle. Hitting the 'panic' button on the remote is not an alarm

Correct.
your Truck is a PATS system standard. Unless you had Ford install an alarm system, which i don't know if you can, its not going to go off. The theft prevention system in your truck is: if you don't have the right key, your truck isn't going anywhere.

HA! What anti-theft system?
That little light inside is a theft deterrent, it doesn't act as an alarm. It blinks 4-6 times after you shut off the engine, and then does absolutely nothing. You actually need to have an alarm system installed, which there are none that come factory pre-installed, it is an option.

the PATS system is a form of an anti theft system...just doesnt include an audible alarm

Mine will honk the horn if you open a locked door from the inside.

Now that you mention that. My truck was broken into before I had my aftermarket alarm system. I knew the truck honked before when you did that, but when they got into my truck it didn't honk.

The reason I know this is because on the otherside of my bedroom wall is the truck, I would have heard it honking

I asked the dealer about that and they couldn't explain what change about the alarm that it didn't beep.

I know they went through the passenger door because it wasn't closed all the way the next morning

That was how it was for me when I lived with my parents.

Here at college, I don't get a garage.

I think you must try the key less technology because mostly the alarm system have fault while you locking the door or some time the light blinking continuously after the door lock.Or use any other system for your vehicle security.
