Alarm Issues - Possible Door Lock problems?
background info: aftermarket alarm system w/ keyless entry via key fob.
symptoms: when the alarm is set, it will (seemingly) randomly go off at all times during the day. which really annoys my roommates in the middle of the night.
Steps taken already: Removed the 'shock sensor' thingie. checked the grounds i could easily find.
My thinking: I've heard tell that our door lock sensors/switches like to go bad from time to time. so im thinking that if something connected to my door locks is on its way out and is telling my alarm system that my door is being opened...my problem is the door locks.
What do you guys think? I wanted to get some input before i begin tearing into my door panels or anything like that.
Also, if you do think its the locks, whats the difficulty rating & cost of replacing them?
Thanks fellas.

just started recently. i had it installed over the summer.
Its not me holding the panic button down because my alarm has been going off while im in class and the truck is in the parking lot. I know cause my roommate has been walking by it and told me.
I dont have either of the door ajar or dome light issues. i cant say anything about the 45 minute intervals... sometimes it goes off sooner... sometimes longer.

If they installed the isolation diodes on the door sensors one may have gone bad. The only other thing I can think of would be a problem with the door ajar switch, but you should see the dome or door ajar light flicker on at some point.
If the system was installed professionally I would stop back by their shop and let them take a look. If thats not an option then you'll need to start un-plugging trigger inputs at the alarm one at a time to narrow it down.

I installed my "door is open" wiring to my dome light, If a thief were to open my door it would turn on my dome light and the alarm would go off.
When I had my Rotary Powered Focus it used to have the same alarm and I would go off in the winter while the car was losing the heat it had put in the cabin. It took almost 45 minutes, but I tracked this down and it was because of my shock sensor. Somehow it was temperature sensitive. I changed it to a new one and it went away. I still have the same alarm now that is in my truck. I probably have a few more sensors than you however.
I have:
2 Shock sensors
1 Proximity sensor
1 Glass break sensor
1 Battery low sensor
1 Hood tamper sensor
1 Door open sensor
If you removed your shock sensor and the only other one you have is the door sensor then it must be that. Either your switches are bad, or the alarm itself is bad.

my own truck does that.. take a right hand corner at a semi-decent speed to get a teeny bit of g's on the door.. and the door ajar will go off, soon as i straighten out and drive for a second, it shuts back off
