Shot in the dark: Try cleaning the connectors under the seats. They have been a trouble area on many trucks - the diagnostics sees too much resistance on the circuit and lights the airbag light.

You can use electrical contact cleaner but protect the rest of the interior-some brands are fairly safe but others eat some plastics. Then coat the pins with dilectric compound (from the Ford dealer or parts store) and reassemble. Hopefully, that's all it is.

Ask at the dealer about a TSB for that airbag light - something about the seatbelt pretensioners, maybe? There was a TSB for 2001s, I think. Might also apply to your 2002. Worth a try. Your Restraints warranty is probably longer than your regular 3/36 bumper-to bumper.

I also had the airbag light on in my 02...it went on for a day and then off and then on again a week later and then off..havent seen the light on since and this was about a month ago. I dunno what caused it...I didnt play around with any of the connectors under the seat. I think it was flashing a code 4-7
