AC not working properly

My trucks AC does not work at all unless it's on max (left ****), and on full blast (left ****). When it is on these settings, it blows ice cold air just fine. But my question is what would cause this to happen, and how I could fix it. It's not a big deal, but it is annoying on days where it normally would be set on 2 or 3.... not full blast.

BTW- heat works flawlessly.

Does the compressor cycle normally in other settings?

If the compressor kicks on and off normally, I suspect it may be the blower motor resistor. When the blower motor is in any other position than "Hi," the resistor slows the motor down by converting the energy into heat. When the resistor fails, the motor will only work in the "Hi" position.

That should get you started anyway.

i don't exactly know what you mean by cycling normally in other settings?

I will say that every once in a while, it will work on the 3rd setting. But only on max ac(right ****).

I meant to ask if you can hear the compressor clicking on and off in other settings. If it's clicking on and off, then it could narrow the problem down to a blower motor, resistor , or dash A/C switch.

But, now that I see that the heat works normally, maybe it's something else.
Does the fan blow normally if you have vent, defrost, floor selected?

I'm not an expert in A/C stuff, but maybe this info will help someone else figure it out. Sorry for the confusion.

yes, the fan does blow normally in all settings.... It doesn't really bother me the way it is, but my thoughts were if i ever tried to sell the truck. It would be noted as a problem, even if it was simple.

But thanks for replying
