Hi All

2010 Ranger

Is it normal for the AC to be on even if the AC is not selected on the controls?
I just want outside air to blow through the vents but AC is always on

 

There are 3 positions that will not have the AC Compressor running in a 2010 Ranger
OFF, PANEL or FLOOR

It will be on for both ACs, of course, lol, and on for PANEL/FLOOR, FLOOR/DEFROST and DEFROST

The AC is used to DRY the air coming in to prevent high moisture content in the cab
Defrost is the big one, much faster defrosting of window with AC on
Its been this way in all vehicles since late 1980's

In the early 2000's AC was on in all settings but OFF and VENT
