97 Ranger - Temp blows hot no matter where temperature control **** is located

Have had this issue for a while now and need to get it fixed. No matter where I turn the temperature control **** on the climate control panel, it always blows hot. Fan speed is fine, as well as airflow selection. Read on other posts about this blend actuator door so I'll check that first. If that is okay, what else can be the issue?

Probably nothing else is wrong. The blend door female shaft splits open at the top. The actuator then cannot turn the temp blend door. The actuator is on top of ductwork behind the glovebox. I know all this because of some excellent advice from on here. Cutting open the box IS the best and by far least expensive option. Dorman makes a replacement blend door. It's available at the usual big chain auto parts stores.
The Explorer has the same HVAC box.
