95 ranger 4cyl ac diode?

Hello,
Got a 95 ranger with aftermarket ac in it. this truck had a ton of issues when I bought it and the last to be fixed is the air. I had the ac compressor rebuilt, the evaporator fixed, and the lines replaced. Still no air yet. When i turn it on it blows the fuse. when I run the compressor to the battery direct it seems to draw a lot of current and pull the idle down a lot. then comes back up. If I drive with it with the air rigged on...when I come to a stop the engine doesnt idle down right away..takes a few seconds then drops and almost stalls.I tried using bigger fuses, blows them. I tried a relay under the hood from the compressor to the fuse panel along with the fuse in the panel....then it smoked an inline diode which i cant seem to find a part number......any help would be greatly appreciated.

What fuse number was you blowing? Your diode was probably bad in the first place. When they are bad they act like a short which will keep blowing fuses.
