1999 Ranger 3.0L 4x4 Automatic starter not cranking
Well, another day, another issue! Just had the transmission replaced. Drove it for a couple of days, parked it, came out to start it an hour later and no crank. All of the lights light up, fans blow, I turn the key and no cranky. Having starter issues before on other cars, I replaced the starter as it was covered with oil from being right underneath the oil filter, and still nothing. I've checked all fuses and relays, I've wiggled the shifter and shifted to Neutral to see if it would start there, nothing. I looked on the dash at the Theft light, and it doesn't flash fast, just the normal comes on when I try to start, then goes off. I've tried another key, same thing. I've swapped out the relays under the hood, nothing...WHAT THE HELL ELSE CAN GO WRONG! I'm desperate for an answer as I really don't have the money to take it to a shop to have them diagnose for a day.

Check fuse #24 in cab fuse box, 7.5amp fuse
When you turn the key to START the ignition switch under the steering column sends 12volts to fuse 24
fuse 24 sends that 12volts to the transmission switch(drivers side of transmission)
(On an automatic there is a connector above brake pedal where a CLUTCH SWITCH would be, its a Jumper connector to bypass clutch switch)
The transmission switch(DTR) sends the 12volts to the Starter relay in the engine fuse box
If PATS has grounded that relay it will close
Closed relay sends 12volts to the starter motor's relay
Starter motor relay closes and activates starter motor
Ignition switch----------fuse 24---(clutch jumper)----------trans switch----------------------starter relay-------------------starter motor relay
If you have a volt meter you can test if fuse 24 is getting 12volts when key is turned to START
