I have been thinking about doing the explorer seat swap. We have probably 10 junk explorers at work. I want one with gray leather and of course they all arent leather. I did find one with pretty mint gray leather, only problem is that its in a Mercury Mountaineer not an Explorer so it says Mounteneer on both of the seats. Now I can probably get the seats for pretty cheap but I think its pretty lame to have seats that say a different car on them. Just wondering what you guys would do. Take the deal or just wait for seats without the wording???

Just to let you know ...I have grey EXP seats in my ranger. They say noting on them..But, as far as my 2cents goes. I would take them if the deal was good enough..O-and as far as leather...I do not like the seats with a bunch of small holes in them.

True, you could always give the covers a shot and if you dont like it, sell it on ebay.

Thats part of the reason I went for cloth buckets from the sport trac. They are so nice.

My first set of leather seats (gray) were out of an Eddy Bauer Ex and so the seats have the EB emblem embroidered on them:

Eddy Bauer Leather Seat Logo

I currently have another set of the exact same seats in my Ranger, the only difference being that they are tan in color (to better match the rest of the interior) and they don't have the EB logo:

Standard Leather Seats

Everything else, including the power/lumbar/bolster options, are identical between the two sets.

x182dan, I see you are in CT. If it doesn't work out with the seats at work, I still have the grey EB seats here at home and they are available. I was going to eBay them or list them in the classifieds, but just haven't gotten around to it. They are in great shape and I know they work fine because I had them in my truck for over a year. The only reason I swapped a another set in was because I got a great deal on some tan seats that better match my interior. PM me if you are interested.

id go for it its another Ford product its not like they say Chevy Impala on it or something you could cover it if it really bothers you like others have said or see if a upholsterer could cover it with your own design just the mountaineer logo
