Would you consider this permenant rust !?!
Hello Folks,
I've purchased a 2007 Ford Ranger about 5 days ago, it is brand new. I live in a cold area and last week, we had a glaze storm, and after the storm, I decided to put my truck in a heated garage.. which was a very very bad idea I think..
Ok, this is my first new vehicule so I am very concerned, the shaft has alot of rust mark on it... Is it surface rust ?
The reat wheels are ok, however, the front wheels, the inside is VERY RUSTY... Again, probably surface rust...
Is this normal ? What shall I do ?
Thanks!!!

Anyway... I was mainly concerned since I had the truck for only 3 days... And it was full of ice when I decided to put it in my garage... So I was wondering if it's reason it rusted that quick.. However, it's only the shaft the the front inside wheels.. (im not sure what's it's called...)...

eh. Im spoiled. Ask D. I have a nice big shop thats heated year round. infact it would be an absolute disaster if it was allowed to drop below freezing since theres a TON of stuff the will freeze and cause oodles of damage.... but anyways. i live in buffalo, and park my ranger in the nice heated shop about 1-2 days a week during the winter so i can wash it (told ya i was spoiled) and i dont have much rust at all.
What I did, after i got over that initial, put 500miles on it per week for a month thing, I took all the wheels off it, and painted everything that doesnt get hot, with black rustoleum. DO NOT paint your driveshafts! so, when ya pull my wheels off, and look under my truck, its really not rusty after 3yrs. oh, and theres a rusty doohicky at the top of ur engine, right in front under the 4.0 SOHC plastic thing, I painted mine black... I mean they got this nice lookin silver and black engine, then right out front in center is this crummy lil rusty thing its like WTF?! so i painted that....
