Why'd you get rid of your Ranger
#51
If you are getting 11-12 and there are not any unusal circumstances that are play into it your truck is not in perfect working order. Something is robbing your mpg.

I sold mine because it kept breaking down on me and wasnt reliable enough for me to drive to college next year. I miss it though...
I got the chevy because me and my dad pull a big trailer every weekend and his truck was to small and starting to give out. Now we use my truck and sold his so he could buy a good mpg beater car since he only needed a truck for the trailer. He used the rest of the money from his truck to help pay for mine since he would be driving it most the time on the weekends pulling the trailer.

had a 95 ranger 2.3 in high school, sold it for a 1993 F-250 Turbo Diesel
Sold That, who knows why
now have my 04 Ranger
currently in the market for a 1997-2003 F-350 7.3L Powerstroke
I love my ranger but I just miss full size and the cababilities they have. Every time i need to tow something or haul people i have to borrow my dads pickup and i'd rather have my own again.

got rid of mine because it went through slave cylinders like no other. I loved the truck, but since i lifted it and stuff and not having anywhere to really go anymore i just got tired of it. On an impulse buy i went up to the toyota dealer to see if they had any xrunners, and they had 1. so i wasnt leaving there without it.

Traded 2003 XL
One day mom went car shopping at ford. She bought a brand new Taurus. While she was signing all the paper work I went off looking at Rangers. She finished and I was still looking at them.
3 weeks later my mom asked me to go Saturday driving with her. Ended up at ford. Thought she was having something serviced on here car. Got out and she said go pick one out.
Kinda like WTF going through my mind. Took a few seconds to register. She paid the down payment on it and paid the taxes
About 2 years later she paid it off on my birthday

Super Duty...
Wow... I wish I had seen this thread sooner... I was starting to second guess myself. My Ranger was at a dead end... I didn't want the added work of SAS and wasn't happy with the IFS. One of the inboard CV joints or the diff itself was starting to make a nasty noise, it was due for State Emissions Testing and I didn't know if it would pass with the supercharger on it and it did ride like crap with the lift.
I traded it in on President's Day for an '08 F250XLT Super Duty with 6.4L Powerstroke diesel. Startin' over sucks but there's less to do when you start with the right foundation (IMO). Wheels & Tires first, cold air intake and tuner to follow. That's the plan for now...

Had a 94 as my first ranger. Got rid of it in 96 to get a new 96 4x4 ranger. Had that one until 2001 and it was a piece of crap. When I got rid of it it had 68k on it. I went through 3 transmissions, rear end and drive shaft. Then when I traded it something was wrong either in the front diff or transfer case. Something was clunking around and at that point I traded it. Now I have my 05 4x4 and I love it. Has 46k on it and so far had no major problems.

I bought my '97 in 1999 with 17K and drove it 100 miles a day to college. Racked up 125K very fast. It had a 4.0L, 5-speed, got 20 MPG. Zero problems! After school got into the ATV thing, had to pull trailer. Didn't have enough power so traded it for a 99 Silverado. Had lots of small problems. Got married, goodbye ATV's and Silverado.
Bought my 02 Ranger a few years ago with 50K. Lots of big problems. Sad gas mileage. Now I have a boat and need more power/people room. If not for a poor economic situation right now, it would be bye bye Ranger, hello ??????

I had an 83 with the 2.0 and a 4 speed good little truck had over 500k on it though sold it for a 96 Cavalier BIG mistake 2 months later engine started knocking then the #1 rod came out through the oil pan left me with no car for 2 1/2 months. Finaly got rid of the cav and found a 1988 Acura Legend badass car but it liked to eat trannys way to much so that went. Finaly i grew tired of cars and wanted another truck found my 87 on craigslist for 500 went and took a look the truck was in good shape no dents rust just no paint but a really bad primer job. Got the truck home started great but ran like crap found out the engine was shot had broken rings on the #2 piston bent the rod on the #4 piston and cracked the skirt on the #3 piston how the engine even ran i will never know :P but i ended up rebuilding the 2.3 so i have an old truck but with a new heart :).
The 96 cav's pos engine
The 88 Legend
The 83 before paint well fresh primer
After
The 87 as it is now
