whats the deal with the level 2

found this while looking at the differences between the CA fx4 and us sport....As of 2010 in the U.S., the Ranger is no longer offered with the FX4 trim level. The FX4 is still available in Canada; however, it is essentially a rebadged 4x4 Sport.

a sport will still have 28 spline 8.8, a fx4 will have the 31 spline. if the 11 ca fx4 still has a 8.8 31 spline then its still a fx4 regaurdless if ford doesnt do the dsg two tone paint, it still also retains the fx4 body matched xlt style grill instead of the sport bars.
02-03 fx4 are actually equipped like latter fx4 level 2's before they're was a cheaper model. so an 02-03 fx4 although it may have a mesh grill, monotone paint, like an edge is a completely different truck the rear axle, interior, and drivetrain options were never available in a edge.

flare sides are still hideous and you have purple rainbows all over your truck though.

i cringe at s-10's, old tundra's and tacomas. but for a flareside the ranger bed isnt near as guady as some other trucks. its all for show though and to tie into the older truck heritage when beds were single wall with external fenders, which really has nothing to do with skinny fiberglass beds but to each there own.

There really isn't anything special about a plain FX4, unless you're talking about an 02. Really the Level II's aren't that cool either unless you're talking about an 02-03 twin stick trucks. The 31 spline rear end is cool and all but they need something more to make them a more unique truck in my opinion. The manual T-case does that. I just wish Ford would of offered that on the autos. It really doesn't make any sense either since autos since all autos were setup for the manual T-case and it took a special tail housing to make the twin sticks work. If Ford had made an Auto Level II with a manual T-case I might have one of them instead of my FX4 F150. Which I'm fully aware there isn't anything special about my FX4 except the interior as everything else can be optioned out on base trucks.
Maybe I'm getting to far out of the Ranger crowd now days.
