whats the deal with the level 2

thank You ford for changing your models every fricken year. I know all the differences for all years and trim levels because I am a ranger nerd, but seriously this is all you need to know. In stock form Level II's from 03-05 are the baddassest of the Stock rangers. You seriously don't want to become a nerd like me /thread

flair-side trucks do not have the plastic fender flairs. I had an 02 4x4 offroad which is equal to the 03+ fx4 level 1. I didnt have flairs because i had a flair side bed

you have to look at it per year what the differences are. Every year or so it seems ford changes things around. But from what I recall, usually the fx4's are pretty loaded

you are comparing 2 different years. You do realize they stopped making the flairside beds in 05 right?

In simplest terms you are somewhat correct. Ford just started using the sport as the basis for the FX4, so they no longer got the plastic colored fender flares and two tone, instead they have the sport fender flares and in leiu of a "Sport" decal, they get the "FX4" decal on the bedside.

they didnt come with the bottom "plastic" until 2006. I dont believe its plastic though, I think its part of the paint, I could be wrong though.

no basically it just boils down to the 2011 FX4 is a rebadged Sport. There really is no arguing that. All you have to do is look at it and you can tell.

No since 98 or whenever the "Sport" was introduced, it was known to have colormatched Body parts like the bumpers and flares and also the vinyl interior. Then in 01, it became known as the "Edge" Package. same truck though. It stayed the edge package until like 05 when it became the Sport Package in 06. Again the same truck new look as far as the new front end and stuff goes. The Sport and Edge Package is MOSTLY an appearance package with no chrome. So yes technically you are right. The FX4 from 01-05 is an XLT package with chrome bumpers, plastic colored flares and such AND the Ford l/s and . Then in 06 Ford dropped chrome bumpers all together but still the FX4s had the plastic colored flares. In 06 you can see where ford started to really drop things from the Ranger since it is being discontinued. Thats why you can get 06+ sports with alot of the same stuff that the FX4s had as far as suspension and tuff are concerned.
So to save an argument:
2010+ Canadian FX4s ARE the same thing as the Sport "Appearance" wise.

If it left the factory with a FX4 sticker it is an FX4. If It left the factory with a FX4 Level II sticker it was a Level II. It depends on what year it was made as to what that sticker means. Some years it = badassery, some years it = lame shadow of the past.
