Buying salvaged vehicles is great if you plan on keeping them forever. It is most certainly the best way to get nice cars for cheap. As long as it has original engine and no frame damage they are always good to go.

John (wvcat) buys wrecked Rangers and rebuilds them all the time. I think he is up to #23. His is a 2000 2WD that he swapped into a 4x4 with a 2004 front end. It doesn't have anything original in it. I couldn't tell that it wasn't what it looked like.

Salvages are great as long as you don't plan on selling it later.

My aunt drives a 04 or 05 Audi A4 that she paid $7000 for last year. It has 30k. It had no front end when she bought it though.

Like I said this Ranger is my 5th Salvage Purchase. Still driving 2 of the others. You don't have to keep them forever either if you bought it at the right price. This ranger I can driver for 4 years, put another 40K miles on it making the mileage under 100K, and sell it for $3500. As long as it still looks great, runs great, and is under 100K people will buy it. That means I drove the truck for about $25 per month, that is very hard to beat for value & usage. However It isn't like that I would sell it, it will serve duty as the boat & project haul vehicle. Hopefully I will be retired and not having to drive to work.

Nice looking truck.
$$ ?
Sometimes the cost of the vehicle is measured in how bad you want it.

Mine, 03 EDGE 4x, 25K miles two years ago in MA was $9K, just for a measure.

Looks good, luck w/it!

Sooooooo true, when i was looking for a ranger, i wanted to spend no more than $6,500 on a 01 or 02 4x4 with less than 120,000 miles... ended up with an 04 fx4 with a little over 70,000 miles, and had almost $9,000 of the purchase price financed, which to be honest i can barely afford, but I fell in love with the truck.

I dont think you paid too much for the truck, my truck SHOULD be a salvage truck considering what happened to it 2 weeks after i got it, my trucks got a brand new frame. everything from the engine back drivetrain wise, and all the rear suspension and the bed have been replaced, but since the repair cost didnt exceed the value of the vehicle, it was repaired instead of junked.

Since it has such low miles, and it has the 4.0. It's worth atleast $6500.
