Yeah I mean I can pretty much justify getting a sport trac -- being that 4 full-size doors would be nice being that I am getting older and will probably have a family some time in the next 5 years or so...and the Ranger certainly wouldn't cut it.
I can justify getting another Ranger solely because I would want an automatic...well, that and those new 16" Y-spoke wheels are badass.
The Nissan, I think I'd be in the same boat I'm in now because I'd probably end up getting a manual if I could...although I've driven them before, and it shifts a lot nicer than my ranger does.
Then I could also justify getting some type of sporty car with a manual because then I'd have the room I'd need...but then I'd have to borrow someone's truck all the time...I'm always needing a truck for one thing or another.

my vote is for the nissan. You can get 4 fullsize doors in the Nissan, and the Nissans are no longer as small as the ranger, they are more in between the size of a ranger and a sporttrac. Plus you get a real locker, and alot of other goodies. Its got a 4.0L V6 (260HP), that has unreal power compared to the ranger's engine. I just priced out a 4 door Nismo 4x4, to be 28k online, the Sport Trac came out to 29K with no options other then 4.6 and 4x4.

The Nissan Frontier Nismo Edition is awesome looking, just not worth the extra price tag of the "Nismo" options if it's not going to be driven hard off-road.
I say get a brand spankin' new Ranger FX4 Level II. It comes with all the bells and whistles and the leather seat upgrade is really not that much if you look at the whole cost of the truck. The FX4 Level II is cheaper then the Sport Trac and Nissan Frontier.

07 Ranger FX4 Level I- Meh not bad
07 Sport Trac with 4.6- If your not going to do much offroading then this is my vote. I really love the interior, exterior and now since they finally put a damn V8 in it a good engine.
07 Nissan Frontier Nismo- If your going to do any offroading then this over the trac. Last month a buddy of mine bought one. Got to drive it when i was out in Gorman (sand dunes, dry bed lake, trails, hills, etc) and damn i was very very impressed... and that was with stock pos tires! On the dry bed lake i hit 120 like it was nothing and it still had alot left.... ford has a **** load of work to do.... 265hp 285(?)tq out of a 4.0... yeah id buy this over a new lvl2 any day... sadly

hrmm...everyone at work basically talked me entirely out of it. Where's the excitement in that? You're supposed to cheer your coworkers on to make spur of the moment decisions and stuff...where's the fun in talking people out of stuff like this?
So I just don't know...I'll probably just hang onto my 05 for a while longer as vehicles are my downfall. Since 2001 I've owned...
All bought new...
2001 Dakota reg. cab 3.9 auto
2002 Ranger ext. cab 3.0 manual
2003 Wrangler 2.4 manual
2005 Ranger ext. cab 4.0 manual...
It's a bit of a sickness that I should start to control I think.

2002 Chevy 1500(new)
2003 Ford f-250(used)
2005 Dodge 1500(new)
2006 dodge 2500(new)
2007 dodge 2500(new)

He went thourgh all the cars in a matter of a year in a half. needless to say he has jacked up credit.
I would look at getting a dodge 1500 quad cab can get them used for 16K with 20K miles in great shape. Just another option.
