What NOT to do when adding injector cleaner: clogged fuel neck!
Had to take apart my fuel filler neck today.
Actually, it's been a problem for about a week or two. I put some injector cleaner in back a week or so ago, and when I tried to break the top seal, it just pushed inward and hung inside the bottle neck like a flap.
Well, I was too impatient to fish it out so I left it there -- and when I added the bottle to the filler neck it broke off and went down the tube.
Our filler necks are wide at the top, but taper down to a pipe with an I.D. or about 3/4" or so. At the very end of the 3/4" diameter section is a "flare" or "bulge" over which fits the rubber hose that goes to the tank.
Also, at the end of that 3/4" section is a filter/anti-siphon screen. The little piece of foil went down the neck and lay flat against that screen and clogged the tube.
It took like 5 to 10 minutes to get 6 or 7 gallons into the tank because the pump nozzle would click off as soon at the top part of the neck got full and I had to wait until it drained down before squeezing it again, lol.
What a pain.
Anyway, took the hose clamp off and pulled of the rubber hose (the big one only, not the vent) and took the 3 screws out that hold the filler neck in place and shook it upside down while holding the little flap open. Out came the 5/8" diameter piece of laminated plastic/foil which had sealed the cleaner.
All better now.
Just a word to the wise: make sure you completely remove that seal before you add the bottle!
Yes, I am a lazy moron to have not done so!

It's pretty strange. There are certain words I can't type because I have filtering software on this computer. Believe it or not, it objects to d e a t h and I have to use a synonym, lol. Look where it processed the quote from Gay-briel and you'll see it removed it, lol.
It also doesn't like c r a c k or any version of that so if I were to get a c r a c k e d piston or something I'd have to find another way to say it.

Yeah, I guess if the software figures on filtering that stuff, there must be some VERY wierd people out there, lol. I mainly got it to keep off the computer, or to keep my kids from going where they shouldn't. No filter is perfect, but neither is body armor -- but it's still a good idea in a shootout, lol.
Still, it's quite annoying at times so I see why people get "attitudes" towards filtering software in general. I'm willing to tolerate it for the benefit it provides.
