What MPG do you get???
#29
4.0, 3.55 gears, 14mpg
I dont get why people worry about MPG with these trucks either, its a ******* truck not a 4cly *** honda.
Plus that price of gas argument is horse**** too, buying a vehicle is a long term investment you should know what your getting yourself into before you buy it.....plain and simple

long term investment... now there is a true horse poop statement mate. considering the longer you have the vehicle the cheaper it gets.
try selling your 04 for anything close to what you paid or are paying for it
the only difference is if you have a last year or first yr model, or its a very special model (like a 30th anniversary addition or something like) and you wait until it becomes a classic, which also has to take into consideration of demand. there are plenty of special make/model vehicles out there that are worthless because there is no actual consumer demand for them.

Yes it is but i also shift at 1500 rpm.I only run faster then that when i need to jump out into traffic and run! The best mileage ive ever gotten from this truck it was 68 outside and i was driving to P'cola. Hell i got 42mpg that day both ways! I need more days like this lol.

I haven't calculated gas mileage but I have noticed that the 2nd half of my tank goes slower than the first half because I'm carrying around all the extra fuel. So I only fill up 10-11 gallons of my 16.5 gallon tank. The first quarter tank is what I measure.
I always get between 80-95 miles from that first quarter tank. So I get 88 miles per quarter tank average. That means I am pushing 30 mpg. City. Wow. I am surprised. Considering I drive like a teenager. I do use 5th gear whenever I'm over 40 though.

FWIW, my Ranger gets better mileage than any other car I own.

Yea I definitely have to do some maintenance and get some steeper gears.

50,000 mile over 5 years, / 17 mpg = 2941.18 gallons x avg $3.0 a gallon = $8823.54
50,000 mile over 5 yrs / 20 mpg = 2500 gallons x $3.0 = $7500
Over $1300 savings. Gas price goes up even more savings.
Most driving a small truck don't make big bucks, so every extra dollar they can save makes sense. Only a fool wouldn't be concerned about dollars needlessly draining out through the gas tank.
I think I will spend about $300 on mpg saving equipment and the other grand will go toward fishing trips with my boys. So why does the fuel consumption matter, because I would rather have the extra money in my pocket to buy or spend on other things.

wow, if my truck dropped that low in mpg, Id park it until I could have it heavily inspected
seriously, since Ive owned the truck (except when I first bought it and the front sat 2 inches higher than the back due to the entire front suspension needing replaced...) I havent seen less than 20mpg.

Those 355s are whats killing you. You need regear STAT. Specially since you were talking about lifting when you get that settlement money. If you go with 32s or 33s you could just regear to 4.10s or you could go 456s or even 488s.
But it depends if you have a 7.5 or 8.8 to begin with. Only certain 3.0s came with the 8.8. If you have the 7.5 you should be looking for a new axle.
