What do you wish you DIDN'T DO to your Ranger

I wouldnt have bought an 8.8 open axle to replace my 7.5 l/s and instead I would have bought a 8.8 with l/s. I was rushing to fix it before school. I did by a day but I could have just driven my dads truck until I got it fixed.
I also would have found a truck with a 4.0 instead of the 3.0 but that isnt really a mod I did.

I wish I didn't put my first set of cb antenna brackets on cuz I have 8 useless holes in my bed now
I wish I didn't have the mechanic at work put on a trailer harness that's hard wired into my tails so it looks like a royal mess under there and the harness crapped out after a year
I wish I didn't buy euro taillights back in the day
But I guess in the end she came together alright

Ive made a million mistakes, done things over and over again, still not 1005 happy, probably never will be, always too time consuming and always something else on the list. redo, new and back to stock.
i do things for the skill/thrill then wish i wouldnt have yet it was still cool and learned alot.
Overall I love the dang thing to much to really be upset over a decision i made.

OK Josh.. ready for a novel of some ' dumb ' ideas? ( Hint : Everyone go take a crap and grab a beverage before you come back, this might take a while. )
1.) Improperly setting up a wet nitrous system. Theres NOTHING like watching an engine on a dyno go ' boom ' and frag everything in a room.. Only to realize you have the Gas and N2o jets in the wrong lines.
Wish I wouldn't have done that one.
2.) Lets gear down to 4.10's! and forget the c-clips. Put it all back together with those c-clip eliminators.. roll it down the driveway.. and an axle starts creeping out the housing.. Going back into the garage and seeing the eliminators laying on the work bench LAUGHING at you..
I wish I wouldn't have done that.
3.) Lowering! WoW! Torsion bars, lets flip those keys.. and hit a pothole.. the tension bolts dont really help in reverse.. Laying frame! I've done it WITH the Tbars bolted into the truck still!
I wish I wouldn't have done that..
4.) Replacing drum brakes that were seizing in the winter.. with more drum brakes! Yeah! I'll just go and buy all new parts.. and STILL Live in New York.. with all the salt and sodium chloride they throw on the ground.. BRILLIANT IDEA! 200+$ wasted then another 450$ Changing to discs 2 weeks later.. 3 hours swinging a BFH to break off those 2 week old drums..
I wish I wouldn't have bought new drums/done that to my truck.
5.) Neon Light relay.. I need 12 volts close to where this thing mounts.. whats in the area.. Hell, the PCM.. ( HERES YOUR SIGN! ). Nothing like cruzing down the road, switching those cathodes on.. and not enough power being there due to current draw.. having the engine shut off..
I wish I wouldn't have done that.. I really do!
6.) We can just twist and tape these wires till I make sure it works.. Their just gauge overlays.. Guys show up.. ' Lets go cruzing/out '.. 'OK, lemme just stuff this all up under the dash and tape it off.. Only to have the wiring fall out while getting cut off by some idiot.. and tangeling it in my legs while mashing the clutch and brake down.. ripping a whole slew of wiring down in the process..
( Why is it I keep hearing that ' heres your sign ' comment in my head? )
I Wish I wouldn't have done that.
7.) Let me put this in terms everyone can understand.. Toyo F-ing ' Tires '. They call these things ' tires '? Sure, they are round and rubber, but so is a condom! Then again a condom is more reliable for its purpose even on its 5th or 6th use! Little rain comes, Guardrail waiting.. I should have read the sidewall, It said TOYO, not BFG or Goodyear! Fender, Hood, Light, Valiance, bumper, airbags.. paint and clearcoat.. 20 hrs worth of work.. All due to trying to save a few bucks.. Never go cheap on Brakes or Tires folks. Theres STILL Sonic Blue paint all over that guardrail..
I wish I wouldn't have done that.
Theres many more but most of it was trying ' shortcuts ' or to ' save a buck/go cheap '.
I do things a LOT differently now. Cheap usually means ' sub-par ' and to ' shortcut ' means to defeat your own work sometimes sooner then later.
Lesson learned by myself.

I dont regret any mod Ive done so far. Thanks to the huge amount of information on this site (as well as all the great people on here) everything I have done turned out just the way I wanted. I love my Ranger, its the perfect vehicle for me... of course I see the Tacos and think "what if", but I got a deal on my truck that Toyota couldnt come close to.
Only thing I am starting to wish i wouldnt have bought is my damn CB radio system. its not installed yet, but Ive been getting a ton of conflicting info on my antenna and coax. I should have done more research instead of buying the set up the guy at the truckstop said would would work great for me.

Looking at peoples posts.....i though this thread was something you wihs you didn't do, not something you wished you got. this ain't no 'i wish i got X option when i got the truck' sorta deal folks. lol.
There really isn't any mod i regret. I do regret sometimes my whole 'dark menacing' look. black tool box = $380. 'dark menacing' is here to stay. lol. Sometimes regret doing all the bedliner...but still love it. I do regret redoing all my add-on wiring at least twice each.....making it better looking and better looking. Luckily.....all my regrets, are completely reversable.
