Forgot to put air compressor, tarp, extra flashlight, and gun into previous post. I like to hunt way back in the middle of nowhere and should I be stranded like to be able to survive a while. It is alot of stuff but most of it will fit in a small plastic box in the bed. And the gun stays on me not in the truck. :^)

 

This is an excellent thread, I'm getting some great ideas. Thanks for reminding me about a First Aid kit, I'm working on it now.

 

Okay, now I feel prepared. I just bought a bunch of first aid medical supplies, like alcohol, peroxide, anti-bacterial cream, cloth tape, gauze, cotton *****, small scissors, tweezers, paper towels, bottled water, ect. and put it all into an old backpack I have, with my other first aid kits. So now I have this backpack full of medical supplies, it looks like a small portable hospital, for under $50.00.

I could treat many things with this collection of supplies, including broken bones, gunshot wounds, cuts, splinters....

 

I should do something like that.

All you need now is to do the same with tools so that you can fix any problems with your truck or someone else's.

I try to Keep the cab as free of clutter or anything out in the open as much as possible.

 

I have a small toolbox with some screwdrivers, channel locks, hammer etc....not enough to do any job, but my Ranger has been so dependable, I don't feel the need to carry much tools.


I've been adding to my first aid kit all day, and for less than $50, I now have a small portable hospital in a back pack.

 

Now I have an emergency tow strap, duct tape, zip ties, random rope, no name brand swiss army knife, needing a new first aide kit; all in a little tool bag.. more will come.. I still play on the trails, another reason I lowered it so I would stop doing that and maybe save my paint/rocker panels from any serious crap, lol, so I bought a tow hook as well to bolt to the frame, not using my bumper again..

gonna grab a couple of random fuses, bunjee cords, jumper cables, maybe a gerber knife and multitool..

any recommendations on a what gauge jumper cables I need? I saw a few cheap 10 gauges but one said for atvs..

 

I'm guessing, but I think my jumper cables are 6 gauge. They are fairly heavy duty and have always worked great for me. 10 Gauge sounds waaaay to light. Buy a good set and keep them for years.

 

10gauge jumper cables are nowhere near decent quality. I run my electric fan off 10gauge wire. I would be shopping for 1 or 0 gauge, they're not going to be cheap...but well worth it when you have to use them. Get what you pay for, get the big gauge wire and good clamps...will last you long, and work much better

 

6ga is still too small imo, you can only run like 110a or something through 6ga safely. Starter inital draw is about 200a. Just my 2cents!

 

Like I said, I'm guessing here, but they may even be 4 gauge. They are plenty heavy duty enough to jump start any car or truck.

Edit.......After looking at some 4 gauge jumper cables on the internet, I'd have to say that's what I have.....4 Gauge.

 

I have 4ga jumper cables. They were cheap but work fine for every time I have used them.

 

Right now ive got a 3ton jack, lug wrench, chain,knife,spare tire. . .thats bout it. . .need to get a toolbox

 

My jumpers are 2 gauge.

 

CO2 tank, air tool kit, jumper cables and a fixed blade knife.

 

Just bought a 10' x 10' camouflage tarp and some rope...in case I need a quickie tent in an emergency. It's to go along with my first aid kit. I've been adding all kinds of things to my kit so now it's like a small MASH (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) set up.

Im hoping to find and buy a low profile toolbox for my bed. I'm running out of room for some reason.

I used to be a boy scout, I still follow the "Be Prepared" motto.

 

a set of tools, jumper cables, ****** strap, lug wrench and jack, golf clubs.

 

If your out during cold weather you might want to consider a small thermal blanket that reflects body heat.

 

I got to add that to my kit, i got 2 of those, 2 rain poncho's, and a fire starter (flint).

I added a small blanket to my first aid kit yesterday. On another forum I post at, it was suggested to get a bottle of whiskey for pain relief.... I'm going to add a small bottle today.

Nope, the whiskey is for pain relief, toothaches etc... I have to keep it sealed so as not to break the open container laws.
