The "What did you do to your Ranger today" thread
#1978
I had the oil changed and used Mobil 1 again. Tires rotated, and my ASE certified mechanic spotted a problem with my steering system, he said that there was a stabilizer pin in the steering system that was broken and recommended replacing both of them on the front wheels, cost to replace the pins was about $150.
I knew something wasn't right in the front end and there was a random clunking sound I'd hear once in awhile. He said the pin could possibly puncture a tire and would cause a problem. So I had him fix it. He also said my front brake pads are getting thin, and need to be replaced. He wanted to replace rotors, pads, and a bunch of other stuff and ran the estimate up to $600, and I decided I need to shop around or just put a set of pads on myself.
Update: the clunking sound that was in my steering system is now gone.
