Dismantled the dash last night to get the cluster out for bulb replacement. Removed the battery from the tray this morning to charge it (probably completely dead - was that way when I bought it). The "remove battery" was harder than it should have been since a previous genius lost the tie down and decided that Great Stuff was great stuff to substitute.

Last weekend, finally got the leather bucket seats from an Explorer put in. Good riddance to the broken-down 60/40 bench seat that still smells like the previous owner's dog.
This week, pulled the front coil springs and shocks in preparation for a 2 in leveling lift. I have the new springs from Rough Country but waiting for Amazon to get the new shocks here. Also removed and painted the swaybar and replaced all the bushings.
And last night, finally got out the old factory camber bushings. New Moog ones to replace them!

I have a 97 Super Cab. My seats are from a 2003 Explorer. We found them in a junkyard while hunting parts for another car I had to fix. Unfortunately, they are not a direct fit at all. For some reason I thought they would be at the time I bought them. I had to cut the Explorer mounting brackets off of the bottom rails; the ones that slide for adjustment. Then I removed the bottom seat bracket off of the 60/40 Ranger seats and bolted and welded them to the Explorer seats. The Explorer seats also had an active restraint system and that had to be removed, too.
It worked out OK in the end and they are 100x more comfortable and look good, but if I were to do it again, I would look harder for a straight bolt in or at least a closer match. Of course, that's getting pretty hard to find.

Last week at this time I was screwing new plates onto my 2005 XF4.
In 90 minutes I'll be starting a 600 mile trip which will include playing "Musical Refrigerators" with my friends. TRUCK FUN!
I just want you all to know that I'm soaking up all the info I can by reading posts in reverse time order.
I am assembling a list of dopey basic questions which I'll put in one thread starter in the general forum.
The key there is that there are so many Ranger owners who've done so many repairs and modifications.

I replaced the instrument cluster lights. One of the burnt out lights was the CEL. Pulling the code I had a P0401 and after some investigation, think I found I have a bad DPFE sensor. When I bought the truck a few weeks ago, the sensor was zip tied into position where the bracket had rusted away. I'll take some resistance reading on the sensor when I'm home.

Got one leaf spring off, rear drive shaft out (needed to torch to loosen up the bolts) and got the fuel tank removed from my rust project.
In the last last couple of days I also did the headlight restore with the sandpaper and clear coat ala Chrisfix. Sitting out here right now next to project ranger rick with my fire pit lit and having a cigar.
