The "What did you do to your Ranger today" thread

did quite a bit today. took apart the front end to inspect my front axle u-joints, spindle bearings and grease the wheel bearings. had it almost all put back together and had pumped the brakes to push the caliper pistons back in place when the pedal sunk to the floor, blew the line going to the front wheels. since the rubber flex lines were looking bad anyhow i just went ahead and did everything, new steel line to the left front and across the front to the right wheel, both rubber flex lines on each side. at least it happend in the driveway and not while driving down the road. if id had the trailer and it broke, id have defitly hit someone.

I finally cleaned out the back of my cab. I filled a huge black trashbag full of different crap lol. Now I can actually find my tools without digging through piles of old parts and garbage.
I took my other rear mud flap off since I ripped the other one off muddin a few weeks ago...
Replaced the stupid dpfe sensor which cost me 30 bucks so my CEL would finally go off.
Then I contemplated taking off my side steps for about an hour, got 2 bolts off of the passenger side and decided to go inside and sit on my couch and have a beer instead. Maybe Ill take them off later I dont know lol.

Finally decided to "red out" my amber tails. Just washed them with acetone and lightly sanded them down. Forgot to take before pictures but I think everyone knows what stock amber turns look like. I did take pictures of the results.
I think for the 10 minutes of time I put into them they look damn good. I think I might wet sand them again and hit them with a couple more coats to even it out.

Finished the console to hold my old azz 23 channel CB.
It fits nicely in between the shifter surround/cup holder and the seat.
Tomorrow... antenna bracket will be mounted, if all goes as I think it might. Then completing the install by mounting the 102" might come sometime tomorrow night. SWR check and grounding every body part on the truck will be done then as well. Should be blowing smoke soon...

Just sand it down with some 1200 or something?
What paint did you use ?

Sure man. We just lightly wet sanded off the scratches with 1200 grit and then again with 1000. Just dried them, wiped them off with acetone to get any residue or dirt off. Taped off the white and then sprayed them with Red Nightshade. I think we put about 5 or 6 coats on each tail. They look decent but I'm gonna do a couple more coats tomorrow and then bake and clear them. We did that to his Porsche and it matches the stock tails perfectly.

I finally found a black low profile toolbox that wasn't too expensive, but not low quality. It's a Tractor Supply(made by Dee Zee).I got it for 289. I'm gonna remove the Tractor Supply logo.

You could've just spent a few bucks on a can or two of the Plasti-dip... and coated your shiny box with that. (unless you never had a box to begin with, if that is the case, disregard this post)
I'll be spraying Plasti-dip on my 'new' rear bumper tomorrow. (old one has a nice dent in it from the PO leaving it in neutral, which let the truck roll backwards down the driveway into a tree. Yep, tailgate is dented too.)
Mounted the antenna bracket to the toolbox today. Looks nice. Can't wait to get the CB crackling.
