The "What did you do to your Ranger today" thread
#2779
Got the rest of the bolts off the old bearing assemblies (thought I'd shatter a wrench with the pipe extension needed to apply enough torque), and removed them...and definitely the decision to replace was good. Now awaiting the new bearings to come tomorrow evening to start re-assembly. The PVHs ought to work as original rather the rusted shut never used crap they were when I started. (the goal is to keep costs low, so NOT having to replace with manuals is less money....as long as they work...)

The new bearings arrived, ready for reassembling the front end. Painted the new front brake shields, they were crying for something beyond sheet metal. Bought a dome light on eBay, after cursing the sniper who grabbed two other cheaper possibilities out from underneath me. Waxed the hood while waiting for the UPS shipment (they were late today, must have been a busy day).

Reassembled the front: new bearings and brake shields. Amazing to me, the wheels didn't fall off in the test drive and the brakes work fine. The PVHs locked in, too (probably first time in a very long time). Guess the various online how-tos were accurate, or at least executed OK on my end. Great to have the Ranger off jackstands. Saw that some dash bulbs are burned out tonight (first night op).
