valve cover gasket leak

I'm wondering what the cost estimate should be to fix a valve cover gasket leak on my 1998 4.0 L Ranger. An auto shop estimated $2,800 a few years ago and scared me off.

Holy cow......................that wouldn't be just changing valve cover gasket

Better to do BOTH sides
Gasket cost $30-$50, for a set(two)
Labor would be 2.5 hours, so at $100/hour $250

So about $300 depending on labor costs in your area, which vary widely, $75 to $150/hour

A Mobile mechanic can do this job as well, would cost less as they don't have the overhead cost that a shop has

You can just do one side should run about 1.5hour labor

I would also have them change the PCV Valve, it should be changed every 3 oil changes, you can do it its pretty easy, and not an expensive part
