Trying to Decide ????

Recently have been thinking about trading the '00 Ranger for a newer 2WD FX2 Ranger...... Even with the mods I have done the '00 only gets 18 mpg at its best....
The original reason why I purchased the Ranger as Daily Driver was to replace the '98 Jeep Cherokee which has become a designated trail vehicle with occasional daily driving....
After recently doing some comparisons between the Cherokee and the Ranger..... both vehicles have approximately the same size gas tank (19.5 vs 20). The Cherokee can go about 260 on 3/4 tank and the Ranger can go about 200 miles on about 3/4 tank. This mileage is at constant highway speeds of 65-70.
So.... my question is..... What kind of gas mileage does the newer >01 2WD Rangers with the 5 speed and 4.0L SOHC get???
With the gas prices the way they are.... I have been considering the purchase of something that gets a lot better gas mileage...., but I have a hard time seeing myself driving a car again....

a 2001+ 2wd Edge w/ a 4.0, 3.73gears, and stock tires should get you about 23mpg hwy if you stay at 65mph. With 4.10s you should expect about 21

oh and i must say, lol @ "a newer 2WD FX2 Ranger"

UPDATE: Keeping the truck !!

After making the rounds at the local dealerships and online.... I have decided to keep my Ranger and continue the work on the Gas Mileage and Performance....

To buy what I wanted.... while the gas mileage would be better.... , but the monthly payments would be double and the increase in gas mileage would not offset the increase in monthly payments.....

My next project to increase performance and gas mileage will be to install the electric fan.....
YEAH..... I know I am too late for the Group Buy...., but I am hoping to get in on some sort of a discount.....
