And I'm gonna rip it a new one!

There's a Ford event at Texas Stadium tomorrow, and they'll have 4 2005 vehicles to test drive.
Ford Mustang, Ford Five Hundred, Ford Freestyle, and a Super Duty.
Each vehicle will be on a course so you can test each one out fully. The Super Duty will have a 6,000 pound trailer, and they'll even have a Ford GT to see.

I hope the mustang has a manual... :)

Unforutnately it's invitation only, but I'm sure you local guys can stop by to check out the rides.

The 500 looks like a very nice, but not particularly exciting car. I've seen a few of them. Personally I like the new Freestyle better. Both are more or less chick cars.

500's have the new CVT transmission. Imagine never shifting gears.

Freestyle once appealed to me, but the front end is just not exciting at all. I just keep seeing the minivan inside of it. That might change if I see some exterior upgrades/offroad packages...

Well chit! I'm an idiot. I could have sworn the lady I talked to said my appointment was sunday @ noon, but the flyer I got in the mail said Saturday. So I pull up to the Texas Stadium, and I see a bunch of Ford vehicles parked (no mustang or GT though) and some chalk lines for the driving course. Unfortunately, I was a day late. Just my luck darnit!

Bummer dude. Spotted another '05 at the stealer the other morning. I had my new cam w/ me and was wandering around the lot testing/learning it. The 'stang got a lot of snaps from me. Sadly it was an ***-ugly blue color. A few weeks ago there was a black one there that was much better.

This evening I was at my mothers helping w/ some landscaping and misc other manual labor. Afterwards we were watching the end of the football game. A comercial for that Freestar came on. She said "Ooh, maybe I'll get one of those!" Seems I'll have to do some reading up on it so I can give her my $0.02..

The Freestyle and 500 are the same car. Both come with an auto and front wheel drive, or a CVT and all wheel drive. AWD is via the Haldex system. Both are based on the Volvo S80 platform. They are both pretty slow, but they'll get you where you are going. The CVT is quite an interesting drive, takes a long time to get used to it.

I've also driven both the v6 and v8 05 Mustangs if there is something you want to know about those.

Re: Christian <3's This Website...

The Freestar would be for my mother, so performance is not of the essence. Although I'm not sure she'll go for an auto, CVT or not, so it might be out..

I was just saying the other day how I wanted to find the people the pick the names and slap the teeth out of their mouths...

You said Freestar, I was thinking Freestyle. The Freestar is just a Windstar with new headlights.

I was doing testing in one just last Friday and it was much nicer than I expected. Seems like a very roomy decent vehicle to tool around in. You won't win any drag races in it but it isn't as bad as the press says. Takes getting used to though, you floor it and it revs to 5500RPM and just stays there until you take your foot out of it.

Weird! Mum's an old-time rally and ice-racer. I doubt she'd go for that. One test drive and I predict she'll be looking elsewhere. She loathes automatics worse than I..

That's a CVT I drove. If you don't floor it the thing behaves kinda like a regular car, revs around 3500RPM. It's only when you push the pedal down all the way and push the button at the bottom of the travel do you get the 5500RPM. If you've ridden a snowmobile, it's just like that.
