HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN CALIFORNIA?
Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In California, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window. Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 4 inches of the windshield.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in.
Back Side Windows Any darkness can be used.
Rear Window Any darkness can be used.
You can legally tint your entire car in California. The law states that you may tint your rear side windows and the back window as dark or as light as you want as long as you have a rear view mirror on both sides of the car. (Virtually every car manufactured in the last 10 years will have two mirrors).

No legal tint would be 30% U have 35% tint you would be breaking the law with 20% tint
But really who cares everyone has illegal tint. just roll the windows down if you get pulled over. most cops are not even gonnabother you.
Ive never seen someone pulled over forjust the tint itusally for more than that.
Cop wants to be a ***** and start writing things up that are illegal

I have had my front two windows tinted at 35% for a while now, it's pretty light, still easy to see inside, I've been all around cops, not a single problem.
Obviously the darker the tint, and the more stereotypes your truck fits under (such as putting a big pot sticker on the back window) will effect how often, or if ever, you get pulled over for tint.

No you can tint the front windsheild but it can not come down further that 4" from the top of the window

So basically you have to decide between a little lighter, or a little darker. I'm not sure if you already know what your getting, but since your getting it the 7th you should have time to think about it if you haven't already.
