Temp gauge, when should I worry?

94 2.3 Ranger 2wd.

Sitting here in 100 degree at idle with ac on. Driving in this heat, the temp gauge is straight up in the middle. Sitting at idle it's going to the right of the word Normal. Should I be concerned till it gets all the way to the right?

Thanks

Idling, not moving so no air flow..... AC running. Yeah, sure... it's going run a bit warm. I'd only get concerned once the needle starts to peg to the right.

If its going up when sitting still it usually means the fan clutch is bad, can also be worn water pump impellers

Just above 1/2 is OK, 3/4 means shut it down now

Rangers gauges changed quite often so N O R M A L area varied ALOT, so the letters are not helpful, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 or 1/3, 2/3 is OK

If engine gets too hot you will blow a head gasket, can even crack a head
Turn on HEATER to bleed off extra heat as needed

Well it did have a ways to go before it got to the line right before the red line, not quite 3/4. The truck has about 110K and I'm sure it has the original water pump (I bought this last September). I replaced the fan clutch a few months ago, the thermostat last fall. Maybe some day I'll do an electric fan.

Thanks for the input.
