Still waiting for my truck to get built.. BUT...

Hey guys,

As many knows, I am waiting on my 2007 Ford Ranger FX-4 Level II to be built. I've ordered it on December 27th 2006. It has been exacly a month now... I've been told from 6 to 8 weeks.. :)

Anyway,

I've been looking at the Ford website, what do you guys think about these Step Bars ? -->

In fact, the ranger I ordered, is exacly that blue one... Are they really nice on a ranger ? It's hard to see on that picture as you don't really see the overall look.. Anyone has a picture with a set on their truck ?

Regards,
Peter B.

Spykey,

If you are getting a level II then you don't want step bars. They reduce your ground clearance.

Rarely have I seen L2's with step bars.

I love my step bars. Well, my g/f does. She's like 5'2 and ever since the body lift, the passenger side gets alot of use : )

When i purchased my level 2 it did not come with step bars nor have any of them i have seen at the dealers. Did you select those as an option??

I have the Westin full tubes on mine and couldnt be happier.

The step bar option is not available from the factory on Level II's. I saw a set that was dealer installed once but that's it.

They look nice to me, but it all comes down to if you will use them a lot. I installed mine for my shorter mom and sister, and the one girlfriend I had to get into the Edge easier.

Don't buy Westims if you live in a Snow/Salt area. In MN Black Westins last 5 years before they rust though and collapse when somebody steps on them, and Chrome you might get an extra year or two out of them.

I had that issue on the first set i had, started to rust within the first year. Now I clean them well when i wash the truck in the winter and no issues since.

i had stock step bars on one of my rangers (i think it was my 2000) and I hated them. Not only were they pointless on a ranger, it was to awkward in the position they're in. I never used them, but when the truck was muddy, the bars always got mud on my jeans when getting out of the truck. They did look kinda cool, but not real functional. However, this is only my opinion!!!

Amen to that, mine do the same thing, they arent even out enough be really useful. I cant count how many times, ive slid out of my truck and got the back of my jeans all muddy. But they do look good on my truck so i'll leave them on for a little bit longer.

I installed Ford step bars on mine, but in chrome. The chrome makes the truck stand out better, IMO.

In my opinion, the steps on a ranger actually make it more difficult to get into the truck. You have to stand further back, and reach your leg further in to get past the steps. And unless you are REALLY short, you won't need them. My truck is about 5" over stock and my girlfriend is 5'1", maybe 5'2" and she gets in and out okay.

I have those exact ones on my 2006 XLT but don't like them, I plan on taking them off and getting westin tube steps. They are just to flat looking for me, they don't look right.
