Just wondering about your A/C annoyance... why not just unplug your A/C compressor? then it wont come on at all (since you said you don't really like A/C anyway) Or if you wanted to go further you should be able to delete the compressor completely. My 99 xlt 3.0L has it deleted after having trouble during the previous owner, and the truck even has a diagram for the belt to be run without it (I'm assuming A/C was an add on option).
