Small list of problems with my recent Ranger purchase. Tell me your cures
I was looking on line to see about Ranger problems and how to fix them at the best price. I found this site. Hope you and all members came help me out. And Maybe I will find something to share as I come across the maintenance issues owning a older truck. I bought a 98 2x4 super cab 30. v6 for my son. My fan and heat control won't work. My drivers side seat is shot. And I have alittle smoke going on I notice today more than the past week. Today is raining and about 45% out. I put Cheveron ejector cleaner in the gas yesterday. I thought the cleaner might be the problem. I will wait till the cleaner is ran threw. Maybe the combo of a damp day and the cleaner is the problem. I got a passenger seat from the junk yard, made some changes to the mounts and going to cut the seat belt catch off and mount on other side. The motor control I found out on utube the resistor is probley bad you tell me. The heat control I also found on utube is the blend door, crack and need new one. Found that you don't have to take dash apart. Just cut bottom on box under glove compartment area. full video on utube. Heater treater was the post. Their is a way to use their product or you can use a stock blend door with alittle more involved, but not taking the dash out. Hope my smoke is not a cracked head or block. I just bought this truck last week. Give me what you got, I am new to Ranger maintenance but the pc has alot to offer. Thanks to all comments and or help.

The dash isn't all that hard to take out of a ranger. being careful but keeping time in mind, i can remove a dash in about half hour.
Heater fan- Resistor pack, you can find them in the junkyard, rangers, expos. mustangs might have them too.
vent door- they are HVAC, so i'd pull the panel out first and see if a vacuum was being drawn.
What color is the smoke?
Blue means your burning oil, which is bad, but that doesn't mean cracked head or block, could be a number of things.
White smoke is worse, that means your burning AntiFreeze, which means your engine just sucked a head gasket probably.
