Rock Slider Fabrication

If I was to make sliders to sell to members, the people interested would you rather see bolt on sliders or weld on sliders?

personally I like the clean looks of weld on. Or would you like that as an option?

bolt on brings up a whole bunch of other issues.

thoughts? lets here them.

bold on can be the same strength as weld depending on the design...

for mass production bolt on would be a better idea..

I think bolt on also, just for the fact that theres alot of people that can't weld or dont want to have to pay the extra cost or hassle to find someone else to weld them on. But Im not in the market for a set or probably never will be....

I would like bolt on, then I could always weld on later.

x2, hell yeah. Can't wait to see these.

Are you going to make them like the ones you used to have or new design??

Bolt on would be more marketable, but a little more expensive to make sure the fabrication matches up with the holes on every set.

I think just having them available would be nice, regardless of weld on vs bolt on.

Having to drill holes in the frame can be just as big a hassle as running to the welding shop for those without the equipmemt. Both methods have their pros/cons.

Can the mounting brackets not be both?

I would say bolt ons would be easier to sell since those who want rock sliders that weld can always do it themselves or take it to a shop.

I know i personally would be more inclined to buy bolt ons but if you only made weld ons then i am more then likely going to pass on em.

I would say bolt on just because if someone wanted them welded couldn't they just do it?

P.S.- Would you be making these for regular cabs too?

Ease for the consumer would be bolt on

Ease for you would be weld.

I say you offer both, just charge more for bolt on.

I would prefer weld-on, just b/c of the friends I have that own welding companies, dont wanna drill into the frame.
Could you make both? (bolt-on, weld-on)
Prices?
ETA on when you can have some made? Hopefully by Christmas?

You also have to deal with single cab/ext cab, body lift no body lift. Just stuff to think about.

With or without a BL doesnt really matter, its the same design.

If you have a BL it mounts at the top of the frame, if you dont have one it mounts on the bottom. the frame is 4.5" tall, body lift is only 3" of change.

only difference from a regular cab to extended cab is length.

on the previous ones i made the back 24" to the tire there was no frame mount.

i had 3 frame mounts, they did flex some but they also worked great for a high lift mount. ive had my truck off the ground from them.

Problem with bolt on ones....

1 drilling near brake lines and fuel lines
2 bolts pulling/ripping through the frame
3 the front of the frame is boxed, it would crush the frame when you tighten the bolts.

This doesn't have to anything to do with this really, but have you ever thought about making step bars similar to these? It would most likely have a bigger market so you would have greater sales. Just not sure how you would mount them.

I'd buy 2 for that deal.

Seriously though, I'd get a set I'm sure I can find someone to weld them on for me.
