Reverse lights not working

Reverse lights not working

I have a 98 ford ranger and the reverse lights aren’t working so far I have switched the bulbs the reverse switch checked the fuse and still no reverse lights any suggestions on what to do next

Get a volt meter and test the wires at the switch
One should have 12volts with key ON
If not then fuse or its wire is bad

If there is 12volts then put trans in Reverse, change meter to OHMs, test the two contacts in the switch, should be 0 OHMS, switch is closed, if not then switch is bad or reverse tab inside transmission is broken

If OHMS are 0 then wire from switch to tail lights is bad follow it

I found out the fuse I was checking was the wrong fuse this whole time I found a fuse diagram for my truck do you know what size fuse goes in the right spot I put a 7.5 in for now and it didn’t blow but want to put the right one in
