Replacing my stupid horn
#26
see, i ran into a problem doing that for a buddy. the stock horn wire wasn't powerful enough when split four ways. so i had to use a relay.

I have a spare set of hella supertones from my STi that I want to install on the Ranger.
What's the best way of doing so?
Also do we have one single horn or two? I assume our horn system is negative switched trigger, meaning when we push the airbag up in the cabin it triggers the ground to sound the horns?

That's exactly what I want to do. Pretty much don't need to use the factory horn and I am going to use the two hella supertones on the front behind the grill.
I have this wiring diagram from hella attached. I believe what I want to do is the bottom two pictures since I don't plan on switching between factory/supertones.
My question is I am almost positive we have the negative system so it would be the first picture on the bottom right?
Ie From the RELAY:
Pin 30: Fused line directly from the battery.
Pin 87: This is the 12v line from the relay to the + of the horns (I would ground each horn to the chasis right above via the mounting bolt, to make it super easy/less wiring mess)
Pin 85: This would be the + side of pulling out the connector to the factory horn? OR according to the picture another 12v source?
Pin 86: Would be the signal wire from the truck, or would this simply be ground? That's the only two things I'm confused about.
I want to do exactly that, remove/not use factory horn. But use the trigger that is normally used to use the factory horn to simply trigger the relay so when I push the airbag the horn goes off using the two hella horns.
Thanks,
-Nigel

EDIT: I think I found the information: I seached on my subaru form and this appears correct to me.
#30 goes to the battery
#85 is the ground
#86 ties into the wiring that was attached to your old horns
#87 goes to the horns,
In this case I could then USE the factory horn if I wanted to simply by adding another splice from the 87 power wiring going to the hella horns and attaching it to the stock horn. Right? That way all horns are going through the relay instead of going to one horn.

Forgot to update
So I ended up having two horns on my truck. On the wiring harness there is a blue wire and a black wire. Then from one horn to the other is simply one black wire connecting both the horns together. I tapped the blue wire for the signal going into the relay.
I'll get better pictures, these are shitty.
Really simple to wire up, incase anyone needs the info or it helps someone:
Relay:
Pin 30: + battery
Pin 86: blue signal wire of exsiting horn wire (There was black and blue wires)
Pin 85: Ground
Pin 87: + wire going to horns.
(Then just ground each horn to the body/frame/metal on metal..etc.)
Works with my keyless entry/panic and pressing the horn switch.
