I would NOT do this. Think about what you are saying and doing. You are going out and checking a cold tire. Now after you have drove your truck or any vehicle down the road a couple of miles and the tires are at normal operating temperature, what is the pressure in your tires? Did any one read the "Owners Manual"? Read the part about checking tire pressure at normal operating temperature go ahead read it a few times.

i read the side of the tire. not the manual. people change tires, change brands, change sizes, who gives a crap about the owners manual.

btw what is normal? how could one justify what is normal? one day its hot, the next its cold, one time you drove 20 miles the next 5 min, cold is cold, the variables are small, unlike checking a normal operating temp tire.

+1 to zabeards theory and thanks for the heads up bc i lost a tire one year bc of cold weather so its time to get back into checking it about every 2 weeks instead of every 2 months

your kidding right

anyone in their right mind knows that you check a tire cold......and i don't know what owners manual you are looking at that says to check the tires under "normal" temps, but you don't have no clue what is normal....and my owners manual says to check the tires while cold..

even when the tires warm up, they are only gaining roughly 5psi....and tire manufactures know that......read the side of your tire...

You're always supposed to air up/check tire pressure when they're cold.

Read How To Check Air Pressure

Oh yeah right now it's 92degrees outside! Check tires? Not yet!

so nitrogen really is better for your tires and rims? is it worth the extra cost?

I just checked my tires before I went out to get dinner, about 32psi all the way around, I keep them at 35 year around. -Mike-

no....nitrogen works because it doesn't have the water properties that air has....nitrogen wont seap out of the rubber, nor will it cause any wheel rust...

I saw this post yesterday and checked the tires on my 07, the sticker in the door says 30 so thats what I filled them to. They were all around 25 psi each so thats about 5 pounds that has let out since they were put on the truck when they were made on may 1st 2007 since thats the build date of the truck

Was 25F here this morning.

btw, You check all tires cold. When tires are at operating temperature the pressure only increases by 3-5psi. And actually.. *some* tires say "cold tire pressure" right on the side wall.

i'm running 36 psi all around and it seems to be a good compromise for decent not overly harsh handling and good gas mileage.
firestone destination a/t 225/70/14.

check 'em cold.

woke up to 33f here this morning it already snowed a little bit here but not nearly enough!!! it sucks. got my sled all ready to go but no snow yet. thx for the tire psi reminder mine were all at bout 20 psi. of course i checked them cold. cant put cold compressed air into a warm tire thats how belts get separated.

nitrogen has very little moisture in it, so as the tire heats or cools, The pressure stays the same. they use it in F1 racecar tires in 1/4 psi incremnents.
